Please Don’t Think About This Post

No Seriously Don’t Think About It

For many years, I lived almost entirely in my head, except for when I was smoking pot or having sex.

I thought a lot, analyzed a lot and even analyzed my thoughts a lot. And while sometimes this helped me make good choices, it mostly made me unhappy. Luckily, one of the things I’ve through repeated failure is that while thinking is helpful, it has its limits.

Sure, our thoughts can be beautiful complex creations, but there is so much more to life than listening to our personal radio station of thoughts.

Life is petting a furry cat, feeling a heavy weight lift off the ground, kissing a lover, and feeling every inch of one breath. And even though I’m sure you know this, I’m just as sure you don’t do it enough.

We don’t do it enough because all these screens keep us disembodied. Because it’s scary to stop thinking and start living. And because our minds have convinced us, that thinking will make us happy. However, let me assure you this isn’t the case.

So instead of thinking about this post and the good points is may or may not being making. Or the implications it may or may not have for your life. Turn off this screen and either go for a walk or take three deep breaths. As you do let go of your thoughts for just second and feel the texture of this precious human life.
